you put listening as #1. Listening is the easiest trait a leader can use but
just may be the hardest to learn or develop. Most of us have to force ourselves
to listen.

 

Spending time listening to what is going on can give the
leader a fantastic insight as to what is going on within their organization. Even
taking time to hear the organizational rumors can provide information to what
the beliefs of your group are. It does not matter if the rumors are true or
false. The fact that this is what the organization is discussing is a fact in
itself and the identification of areas of concern and where emphasis is needed.

 

Just the fact that the leader is listening to those that
feel the need to talk, gossip or complain makes a difference in how effective a
leader can eventually become.
